3D secure - what is this?

Visa and MasterCard among others, are the primary drivers with a security solution for websites to use as an extra security measure on online payments.

When you, as the cardholder, make a purchase online, on many websites you will be directed through a security solution as part of the payment process to ensure that the payment is completed securely for cardholder and website alike. The common designation for these security solutions is 3D Secure. For Visa, the solution is called "Verified by Visa", and for MasterCard the solution is called "MasterCard SecureCode".

For you as a customer of these solutions, the only difference will be the various logos displayed.
